Ghostbusters International are 4 days from the official Ghostbusters ECTO-1 Lego with mini figures going on sale. What does one ghosthead and custom Lego builder do to pass the time while the rest of us wait? Build..a…Ghostbusters…Lego City!
I’ll let that sink in for a moment or 11.
Olive Seon, (Flickr) pretty much created a version of Lego NYC that is very reminiscent of Stay-Puft headed to the Shandor building. Not that he really needed too, as Olive is no stranger to building global (size) landscapes. And Stay-Puft, yeah WOW, that’s a bit bigger then Diamond Select Toys.

The custom LEGOs I wrote about aren’t available in stores.
The LEGO Ghostbusters ECTO-1 (with 4 GB mini figures) was carried in stores that sell LEGOs. i.e.: Toys ‘R Us, Lego Store. I don’t know if they’re still available in those stores. You can order from LEGO’s official store (USA). They’re currently out of stock until December 29. Toys ‘R Us seems to have it in stock. Can be shipped to your home or picked up in store. Maybe they even have them at retail locations. I’d check before going to the store.

Also as written about on both Ghostbusters Inc. and Ecto-Containment.com LEGO will be releasing a Ghostbusters Firehouse HQ set on January 1, 2016. This will be a pretty detailed, though expensive multi level building set. It will also include 9 Ghostbusters mini figures. GBs, Janine, Dana, (as Gatekeeper) Louis, (as Keymaster) and ghosts from the film franchise. Plus two ‘fun’ ghosts. 1 blue, 1 pink. 🙂
Also coming next year will be a few GBs mini sets, meant to go along with the immersive video game, LEGO Dimensions. The small sets can usually be bought at stores like Walmart, Target, I’d imagine Toys ‘R Us, and Game Stop. They can also be bought (or pre-ordered) on-line.
Beyond that we don’t know yet what or if LEGO will be producing additional sets like they did with ECTO-1 and upcoming Firehouse HQ. A Stay-Puft (also written about extensively 🙂 ) project did meet a requirement of 10,000 supporters. We don’t know if LEGO will “approve” it so it can actually go into production.
Also if you’re looking for hopefully an inexpensive Ghostbusters gift(s) Diamond Select Toys recently released three new Ghostbusters figures. Ray Stantz, Winston Zeddemore, and Louis Tully. (as Vinz Clortho) More Ghostbusters figures will be available in DST next series.
They can be bought or ordered on-line from Toys ‘R US. They retail for $12.99. If you’re looking for more a play set feel, DST will be releasing these figures as Ghostbusters Selects to comic shops and on-line retailers next month. They’ll cost more, (around $25) will include a diorama piece. When we get two-three series of their figures, diorama pieces build the rooftop temple as we saw at the end of Ghostbusters.
