Weekend Magazine 1984 Ghostbusters Craze

Ghostbusters is no fad.

wagatvweekcrazegbs So not officially licensed.

For some of us in 1984 (if we were born then or old enough) we experienced Ghostbusters by more then seeing it in theaters multiple times. As I’ve talked about I was 6 and couldn’t really be part of the hype (i.e.: marketing experience) in that first year. I and other ghostheads around my age only had clues or bits and pieces about other ghostheads memories.

Until about now. A video surface, (actually during Ghostbusters 30th anniversary) which resurfaced showing how residents in Atlanta were and could be part of what news station WAGA called a craze. What they didn’t know.

As part of their weekend magazine segment we visual (video) evidence of Ghostbusters rising popularity. i.e.: everything busters. Along with the first wave of early merchandise. Experiences in other part of the country and the world varied I’m sure.

Stern Pinball Ghostbusters Table

We were contacted by Stern Pinball in regards to the images. Whomever originally put them on-line wasn’t authorized. As such they and Sony have asked sites like ours to remove them. We’ve asked when the companies are ready to provide official details to keep us updated. As we can continue to support this upcoming Ghostbusters game/collectible.

Pinball collector and ghosthead below_radar_00 on Ghostbusters Fans posted what was leaked (sometimes hard to tell these days) photos of the upcoming Ghostbusters pinball table game from Stern Pinball.

The graphics had shown concept, a 3D rendering, and the inside of a real machine.

By the concept art their may be two versions, a limited edition and a pro model. Their could also be a premium version if Stern Pinball releases one.

3D/Real Life

Photos also included a 3D rendering of the inside along with a realistic photo showing the inside of a Stern Pinball game. Which may or may not be for Ghostbusters.

Estimated Pricing

During a discussion in this thread at Ghostbusters Fans below_radar_00 estimated prices. While he does give a price for a premium edition we’re choosing not to include it at this time.

  1. Pro models, usually for operators: $5,500 USD.
  2. LE models, for home market: $6,800 USD.

When we know more about pricing, progress, and release dates we can write more about Stern Pinball’s Ghostbusters table game.
