Netflix show Stranger Things, with season 1 taking place in 1983 in part is also a tribute to “real” ’80s entertainment nostalgia. Ghosheads wondered if Stranger Things could take a break long enough from their seriousness to mention Ghostbusters when they get to 1984. Ghostheads and uh Stranger Things fans would just have to wait until New Years.
On that important Ghostbusters like day Stranger Things Twitter account tweeted:
Whoooo 1984!! Everything GHOSTBUSTERS!!!
Okay, maybe not just Ghostbusters.
Entertainment Weekly shared this screen cap image from Stranger Things Season 2.
The screen cap is also part of a Super Bowl ad for Stranger Things which will air during the super football game on Sunday, February 5, 2017.
Mike, (Finn Wolfhard) Dustin, (Gaten Matarazzo) and Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) are dressed in fairly accurate Ghostbusters costumes for the time. Why are they dressed as Ghostbusters besides the obvious cool factor? We won’t really know until season 2 is available on Netflix this year.
