The Diecast Company out of The Netherlands has a pre-order for an upcoming remote controlled die cast Ecto-1. Along with pre-orders for Ghostbusters (2016) Ecto-1s. One is also remote controlled. The second Ghostbusters (2016) Ecto-1 may be for a slightly younger ghosthead.

GHB Air Freshener

As mentioned in our previous post 50 Fifty has additional Ghostbusters products listed on their site. Safe assumption these will be up and coming during 2016. Price and release dates aren’t listed.

I haven’t seen most of these collectible products before. Again I’m not sure if they’ll be in all markets globally. Either way, let’s check them out. Continue reading “50 Fifty Ghostbusters Merchandise”

New York Toy Fair: Titan Merchandise Ghostbusters Vinyl Mini Figures

titansgbvinyl

Last November we talked about Titan Merchandise and their basically promotional art for what their upcoming Ghostbusters “mini” vinyl figures would look like. I had never seen an actual Titan Merchandise vinyl figure, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. Which wouldn’t have mattered anyway as expectations are more then met! Brazilian Hot Wheels fan site, T-hunted has posted pictures of Mattel brand Hot Wheels Retro ECTO-1A. Beyond The Marquee Interviews Stephen Dane

stephendaneoscdaneandecto1

Movie and TV website Beyond The Marquee interviewed Stephen Dane. Mr. Dane created the movie versions of ECTO-1 and the prop equipment. Although they did look amazingly similar to the real ones! Topics Include:

  • Stephen Dane’s start in Hollywood.
  • How Stephen Dane came to work on Ghostbusters.
  • Designing a movie version of ECTO-1 and prop equipment.
  • Working with Ivan Reitman.
  • Proton Pack inspiration.
  • Physically building prop Proton Packs and Ghost Traps.
  • Paper To Props.
  • ECTO-1 build process.
  • Designing “Ghostbusters II” prop equipment.
  • Ghostbusters memories.
  • Ghostbusters impact on Stephen Dane’s career.

If they asked me to work on a new Ghostbusters film, I’d do it in a flash. It sure ought to be interesting …

Beyond The Marquee’s interview with Stephen Dane.

We’re sure speaking to Mr. Stephen Dane would have been more then enough. Because of the unprecedented access that was granted Jon Donahue and Mr. Stephen Dane checked out the screen used ECTO-1 once again.

Funko Ghostbusters NYCC Pops Exclusive

funkonyccslimeecto1pop

The week of October 9, 2014 the Javits Center is hosting New York Comic Con. Per usual there will be con exclusives. One of them from Funko is a variant of their Egon Spengler Movie Pop! and ECTO-1 Pop! that comes with Winston Zeddemore. As can be seen the NYCC Ghostbusters Pop! has Pop! Egon and Pop! ECTO-1 slimed in places. The artwork also appears different from the standard ECTO-1/Winston Pop!

What seems unusual is that unless we’re talking about Ghostbusters II,™ the character of Egon Spengler isn’t normally the one who gets slimed. Peter and Ray, for sure. This “combo” Pop! surely is unique. It’s possible Funko in a way wanted to honor Harold Ramis, who of course perfectly played Dr. Egon Spengler in both Ghostbusters™ and Ghostbusters II.™ Either that or someone at Funko wanted to do something different.

After all Funko had already done the SDCC slimed Pop! Peter Venkman with Pop! Slimer. Along with the SDCC “marshmallow covered” Pop! Ghostbusters. If the Pop! ECTO-1 was always going to be part of the NYCC exclusives, I would have done a marshmallow (different white or use a slightly dark outline) covered ECTO-1 and include a marshmallow covered Pop! Ray Stantz.

What do you think of Funko’s decision for a slimed Egon and Ecto-1?

Mattel Releases Preview Images of 1:18 Scale ECTO-1 With Figures

This past February I posted about Mattel/Hot Wheel’s 30th Anniversary ECTO-1 with figures. Which was barely close up and the item was in a case. Now Mattel has released some detailed pictures of what 1:18 ECTO-1 and especially these Ghostbusters figures will look like.

If Matty Collector, Mattel’s adult collector brand had never made more detailed 6 and 12 inch Ghostbusters figures within the last 5 years, these are passable for possibly static figures that are meant for display purposes. If these are the final production figures and they’re being compared to the stand alone figures, its easy to nitpick. Does anyone else feel like these could be knock offs of the $22/25 USD figures?

Ghostbusters Lego ECTO-1 Available Today

gblegosetboxectos

This is it, this is definitely it!

The 30th Anniversary official Lego Ghostbusters ECTO-1 is available for sale today from Lego Stores and on-line retailers such as Amazon.

To no one surprise here and this week, the set is already #1 and selling well. Ghostbusters Inc. store Slimes Square will be receiving a shipment this week.

Time will tell if sales could be an indication of Lego producing a Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man Lego set and/or additional Ghostbusters Lego Ideas.

Where To Buy/Order

Amazon US and Target US (on-line) are selling these sets too. Toys ‘R Us was, the page was taken down before yesterday. If you know of additional retailers (brick & mortar or on-line) please list them in the comments. Please, we don’t need to hear about third party sellers on eBay or elsewhere who are selling these “rare” new and popular sets with high, unnecessary mark ups.
