ECTO-1 Replica Part Of A&E’s Shipping Wars

I use to really enjoy Shipping Wars, a welcome departure from the 11 storage locker shows networks usually bring to audiences. Somewhere between seasons, finding out the fakeness of their other ‘Wars’ show, and not watching their Dynasty, I didn’t continue to DVR Shipping Wars.

I didn’t originally know (they don’t tell me enough around here) on June 3, 2014 a new season of oversize shipping and bidding begins again. Which includes the above ECTO-1 replica. This ECTO-1 replica which isn’t an exact screen used version was auctioned in November 2013. For the hefty sum of $83k!

New York Toy Fair: Funko Pop Ecto-1

Not the prettiest picture. Apparently for whatever reason Funko‘s Pop Vinyl ECTO-1 wasn’t on display at New York Toy Fair. Or it was and a picture didn’t surface of it in the nice green back lit display. Funko’s ECTO-1 reminds me of a chopped version of Kenner’s ECTO-1. And a larger version of The Real Ghostbusters soap dish.

I don’t know if this is the final version, and I may be in the minority of ghostheads who aren’t sold on this. I won’t complain if I had to own it. I don’t know if I would buy it, if it wasn’t going to be included with Funko’s version of Winston. One of the positives is it appears any Funko Ghostbusters figure can sit, well stand in ECTO-1. Fortunately too Winston will be able to be displayed on its own. I’m glad the creative minds at Funko thought like how ghostheads and collectors do.

New York Toy Fair: Funko Pop Ghostbusters Including Winston

"Four is better then three." - Ray

Funko showed of their Pop vinyl Ghostbusters figures, including Winston at New York Toy Fair. With eyes like theirs, Egon could have contact lenses for back up. I like the details with the equipment and as is the norm each Ghostbuster has their own equipment accessory.

New York Toy Fair: Lego Ghostbusters ECTO-1

At this past weekend’s New York Toy Fair Lego showed off their previously announced Ghostbusters ECTO-1 set for the first time. It’s easy to be biased, I think the Lego ECTO-1 seems to surpass their Back to The Future DeLorean(s). Which I still do not own yet. The Lego ECTO-1 reminds me of the original car, also has that “5 years later” older feel from the beginning of Ghostbusters II.

Release date is set for June with a retail price of $49.99 USD. It may be a little less through on-line retailers such as Amazon.

New 30th Anniversary Ecto-1 With Figures

Last Summer Matty Collector, Mattel’s adult collector brand showed off a potential ECTO-1 that could be pre-ordered with two 6″ Ghostbusters figures that would have had removable packs. Business decisions and probably a revaluation of the products caused this SDCC “unveiling” to be cancelled. Previously Mattel’s die cast brand, Hot Wheels Elite had released both ECTO-1 and ECTO-1A in multiple scales with varying degrees of detail and pricing.

Funko Pop! Vinyl Ghostbusters Figures

Funko, Ghostbusters license who makes vinyl figures has revealed most of what their Pop! Ghostbusters series will look like. I’m not that familiar with their brand as I haven’t really collected vinyl figures. Between their previous  Back To The Future figures and now Ghostbusters, that will have to change.

Lego Announces 30th Anniversary Ecto-1

Lego officially announced an Ecto-1 (presumably with 4 Ghostbusters Lego people) set during their Fall 2013 Lego Cuusoo review.

Its too early to know details about this upcoming set. It would be great (not a deal breaker) if you could also build Ecto-1A. Which could be similar to how the DeLorean set can be made into either of the three versions from the Back To The Future trilogy.
