Another Rare Ghostbusters Fan Club Kit

Today, Robert Maxwell Barbieri (Instagram) shared a new set of photos from the Official International Ghostbusters Club. (Ghostbusters International Page) He messaged us via Facebook the photos to share here at Ghostbusters International.

About this Ghostbusters Fan Club Kit

Found another rare Ghostbusters fan club kit. I snagged this one because it’s an earlier set with the badges and a different introductory letter. I have 2 later kits with one explaining they ran out of iron on patches and included 2 big glossy stickers instead. Just another chapter in the fan club history.

Official International Ghostbusters Club Photos Updated

officialgbsfanclubjobapp2

On August 6, 2019 Ghostbusters International was able to recreate (GBI Blog Post) part of the original Official International Ghostbusters Club, thanks to Robert Maxwell Barbieri. (Facebook)

We figured that would be it unless TECHPAC or “No Ghosts, the quarterly newsletter surfaced. On Halloween and into early November (“that’s my fault”) Robert reached out with a couple of new pieces around the Official Ghostbusters Fan Club.

An article about the club, written by Rick Lyman, Inquirer Movie Critic and a letter (more like a note) from the Ghostbusters Fan Club so Mark Lister and Jim Garvey could send “qualifying applicants” club items once they or their parents paid $8.95 USD.

We’ve added these 2 new photos to the Official International Ghostbusters Club page.

Remember that time we wrote about the official Ghostbusters Fan Club? Five years later we’re writing about the official international Ghostbusters. fan. club. again. For a very good reason. It started this summer when the king of the ghostheads, Peter Mosen. (Facebook) had been taking and sharing photos from his career and collecting. One or more of the shared photos came from the original Ghostbusters fan club.

As I have in at least the last 5 years I asked about “club stuff.” That’s also when I heard from Robert Maxwell Barbieri. (Facebook) If you didn’t know, Robert restored the original The Real Ghostbusters pilot. Which Sony Pictures put on ghostbusters.com before also physically adding the restored pilot to the Ghostbusters 35th anniversary 4K/Blu-Ray!

As a ghosthead collector, Robert has items from the original Ghostbusters fan club. I asked for pictures or scans. Could they be shared for ghostheads? Robert agreed and I wasn’t disappointed by what he sent over. Including some extras from his archives.

If you have one or more of the quarterly newsletter “No-Ghosts” or something else from the original fan club, please contact us at: ghostbusterscities @ gmail . com.

It took around a week once we had the photos. We’re happy to recreate some semblance from the official international Ghostbusters club.

Ghostbusters Official Fan Club Membership Card

gbsoffanclubidback

Within 30 days of Ghostbusters original theatrical release Mark Lister and Jim Garvey from Swissvale, Pennsylvania spent $10,000 USD ($24,018 USD in 2018) to start and license the first Ghostbusters Fan Club. (GBI Blog Post, June 8, 2014)

On that very day (in Summer 1984 or June 8, 2014) the certificate of Anti-Paranormal Proficiency surfaced. The Official Membership Card hadn’t in hi-res glory until Groundhog Day 2018! Ghosthead Lance Dobersek tweeted the following:

Not one to miss an opportunity I asked Lance if he could scan his official card to share with ghostheads. His reply, “Consider it done!” Continue reading “Ghostbusters Official Fan Club Membership Card”

Ghostbusters 2016 In Movie Site

kennethphigginsabout.png

During yesterday’s on-line trailer premiere (Ghostbusters International Blog Post, March 3, 2016) a hidden web site address appeared as a scientific equation quite a few employees around here understand maybe too well.

A fan base aside for a moment, its easy to miss it if upon a few viewings. Its been three decades and we’re still finding things within both Ghostbusters movies. While checking out a nerd culture site they had a short video that’s a behind the scenes of Ghostbusters (2016). Talking new Ghostbusters science.

Before I had a chance to look into the video’s interwebs origins, Ghostbusters associate Paul Rudoff through Spook Central‘s Facebook page posted the site. Ghostheads everywhere could be on their periodic tables. Continue reading “Ghostbusters 2016 In Movie Site”

Ghostbusters Video Games: Sega Master System, The Challenge Will Always Be There

segamastersyst

After catching up on my transformed personal blog and partially taking a weekend the next Ghostbusters Video Game section and its first page has been created and published.

Sega had three (that I know of) game systems which had the original Ghostbusters games to a more “next generation” Ghostbusters game. David Crane’s original first made its SEGA debut on their Master System. Seems kinda alien. Continue reading “Ghostbusters Video Games: Sega Master System, The Challenge Will Always Be There”

Activision Ghostbusters Advertising

workingc4gbsroom

Last year when ghostheads were talking about classic Ghostbusters gaming Troy Benjamin (Ghostbusters HQ) brought up Ghostbusters advertising from the era. I had certainly never seen it, as I was once a kid and we didn’t own a computer, (seems unimaginable) I didn’t remember this unique, now part of Ghostbusters history.
