   domopopgbs

Last October Funko and Big Ten Entertainment introduced us to Pop! Movies Domo Ghostbusters. While photos of the three products with box art have been available, most fans didn’t see the actual Domo Ghostbusters until New York Toy Fair.

Thanks to Awesome Toy Blog, we get to see “…the real thing.” Continue reading “New York Toy Fair: Funko Domo Pop Movies! Ghostbusters”

Ghostbusters Japanese Movie Program Merchandise

gbsjapaneseprogramcover

Yesterday I wrote about and shared our Ghostbusters Japanese Movie Program. If you were wondering I don’t have a Ghostbusters II Japanese program to archive and share. Today I wanted to discuss (well talk about) that internationally Ghostbusters merchandise and collecting was ahead of its time (or got the ball rolling…wait, was their a Ghostbusters ball?) compared to GHOSTBUSTERS™ merchandise in the North American markets. ゴーストバスターズ映画プログラム Ghostbusters Japanese Movie Program

gbsjapaneseprogramcoverGhostbusters Incorporated’s unofficial Japanese Ghostbusters month continues with a ゴーストバスターズ映画プログラム. Or Ghostbusters Japanese Movie Program.

By the way, if you speak and/or read Japanese and know Google Translate got it wrong, its ok to laugh. We’re just trying something here for Ghostbusters and some level of effectiveness.

I don’t personally know about these days, during the ’80s if you saw GHOSTBUSTERS™ or GHOSTBUSTERS II™ in a Japanese movie theater you’d receive a movie program. Which maybe was or wasn’t meant to be collectible.

The glossy pages Ghostbusters program is more like a magazine. With articles for just about every aspect of Ghostbusters. With great photos overall to accompany the information.

Some of the articles are about what Ghostbusters is, (I think) its story, pages on the cast, and Ghostbusters SFX. Continue reading “ゴーストバスターズ映画プログラム Ghostbusters Japanese Movie Program”

Tsukuda Japanese Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man

tsukudastaypuft3

After looking at and writing about Hobby Japan magazine which featured Tsukuda’s Ghostbusters produced and prototyped (I think) models I went on an internet rampage (not so subtle reference) trying to find another copy of Issue 1 from 1985. When the results were less than successful I began looking at the known Tsukuda Ghostbusters models. Tsukuda’s Terror Dog and Stay-Puft have been written about by others. It felt like the right time to talk about and show Tsukuda’s GHOSTBUSTERS™ models again. Continue reading “Tsukuda Japanese Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man”

Ghostbusters Japanese Hobbies

Last week while checking eBay for Ghostbusters merchandise I came across Hobby Japan #1 from 1985. I think most ghostheads know after GHOSTBUSTERS,™ prior to The Real Ghostbusters their weren’t many Ghostbusters collectibles, at least in the United States. We (well we as a fan base, not personally because I was 7) had two Japanese Ghostbusters monsters models to choose (no pun intended) from. Either a Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man or a Terror Dog. Made to put together from Japanese company Tsukuda Hobby Japan.

What you probably didn’t know is early Ghostbusters models also included Gozer and get this all four Ghostbusters! Continue reading “Ghostbusters Japanese Hobbies”

Japanese Ghostbusters Food & Beverages

jsburgerscafeburgs

Just when we thought we were done ‘turning’ Ghostbusters Incorporated into a food site, a restaurant with Ghostbusters theme food brings us right back. This time it isn’t in America. We’re not even sure its an official tie-in. Japanese restaurant chain J.S Burgers Cafe is celebrating Ghostbusters 30th Anniversary with its Ghostbusters themed food, beverage, and naturally dessert.

What’s to eat and drink in Japan? Continue reading “Japanese Ghostbusters Food & Beverages”

Domo Releasing Ghostbusters Collectibles

domogbart

I’ve seen ‘Domo’ products before, haven’t really known about them. I really got off the train (what train?) to my mid thirties a year ago. I guess I thought it was something the kids are into, like Minecraft.

I didn’t know Domo is a product of Japan. Which may add to its coolness when combined with Ghostbusters.™ Basically Domo will create iconic scenes from Ghostbusters with their big brown furry one.
